The Freyburg Schweigenberg is probably the most famous terraced vineyard in the region: the approximately 25-hectare area is divided into five to ten terraces, one above the other, and into numerous small and tiny plots – a true cultural monument for this traditional form of cultivation.

The construction of this late Romanesque church, also known as the "sister of Naumburg Cathedral," dates back to the period between 1210 and 1230. It was probably commissioned by the Thuringian Landgrave Ludwig IV (reigned from 1217 to 1227). The church's core is Romanesque. At the beginning of the 15th century, the apse was demolished and replaced by a Gothic choir. The southern side apse was sacrificed to an added sacristy. At the end of the 15th century, the nave was demolished and replaced by a hall nave.

The terraced vineyard located below Neuenburg Castle, with its striking Rococo vineyard house, is a regional landmark. In its current form, it represents a Baroque vineyard as it was created at the end of the 18th century. Wine is served here from April to October, Monday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
