At the end of the old bobsleigh run, the old bobsleigh and toboggan run of the Friedrichroda Bobsleigh and Toboggan Club 05 begins. You can walk through it from above or below, and marvel at the curves with their steep walls.

Residents and guests of the small town in the Thuringian Forest could choose their favorite melody from a variety of tapes, which would then be played to their listeners on the program "A Thousand Melodies Seek." "A Thousand Melodies" is also the title of Kristin Wenzel's work, which explores the 1966 Luge World Championships in Friedrichroda and recounts the anticipation and euphoria associated with this event. Today, almost 60 years later, a thousand melodies resound in the Thuringian Forest along the Red Trail toward the Spießberghaus, recalling a world championship that never took place. At the same time, with her multimedia installation, Kristin Wenzel questions the reception of history by political systems and their handling of defeats and collective disappointments. In doing so, she not only places failure at the center of her work, but also advocates for a perspective beyond neoliberal paradigms in which people are defined solely by their success. The exhibition was on display in this building from August 27 to November 20, 2022.
