The building is located on the former site of the Heygendorf Garden, once owned by Caroline Jagemann, actress and mistress of Duke Carl August, later Frau von Heygendorf (1777–1848). Villa Haar was designed in 1885 by the architect Otto Minkert in the Neo-Renaissance style, modeled on the Villa d'Este in Tivoli near Rome, and built for the lawyer Werner Voigt in 1886. Today, the villa and its grounds offer a stylish venue for events. The garden is open to the public and invites you to linger.

Zeughausplatz is the starting and ending point of this hike. I reached it on the rail replacement bus from Weimar train station, and the return journey also took place from Weimar main station.
