The oldest Olive tree in Montenegro

I cycled from Montenegro to Albania at the beginning of November. It was no problem. I simply had to lift my bike onto a concrete wall about 50 cm high, and then I was able to continue. The road in Albania is currently under construction, but it's easily navigable.

Update 2025: ATTENTION! The road is being expanded and will likely soon be no longer quiet. Barefoot bike course: coarse sand, fine sand, fine gravel, coarse gravel, old surface, fresh tar, new asphalt, coarse stones, and potholes. Accordingly, there will be heavy construction traffic.

Great border crossing. Don't be afraid of the gravel, though, and if it gets too much, just push for a few meters. But the path along the lake is just so beautiful that I'd go back here again and again.

Update July 24, 2025: Roadworks are continuing, and now it's no longer necessary to push your bike since a gravel bike is easily accessible (the mountain of rocks in the photo has been removed). We passed without any problems, even with the roadworks in progress. All the workers greeted us and made way for us to pass without saying anything.

I was able to walk past the cairn by bike. 200 to 300 m is a bit more difficult. I came from Albania to Montenegro. There are currently road works in Albania, I was able to cycle everywhere. End of June 2025.

Been crossing on 7 june 2025, all good 👍 Just need to push/lift the bike 2 minutes, good possibilties of free camping just after the border on Montenegro side, road works on the Albania side.
