After rainy days, you have to be prepared for wet feet at the two “fish bridges” near the start and finish car park (personal experience).

The DNT Fjällstation Krækkja is a full-board hostel during the season, where you can sleep and enjoy breakfast and dinner, as well as various other items during the day, such as cakes/waffles and soup. It's also a great place to take a break. Krækkja is the oldest cabin on the Hardangervidda plateau, having opened in 1879. The cabin is beautifully situated by Lake Storkrækkja with a view of Hallingskarvet. Families with children, retirees, cabin hikers, and day trippers all come here.

This accommodation is similar to the DNT full-board hostels, except that they are privately run and may be slightly cheaper than those offered by the DNT mountain stations. Here, too, full board (breakfast and dinner) is offered in addition to accommodation. A road leads to this accommodation, so there is also parking available for starting and ending tours. This accommodation is also accessible from the towns of Ustaoset and Geilo.

The DNT Rauhelleren Mountain Station is a full-board hostel during the season, where you can sleep and get at least breakfast and dinner. It's also a great place to take a break. According to the DNT website (https://ut.no/kart), there's also a self-catering cabin next to the mountain station. I personally assume that this is only open between seasons (winter/summer) and that the hut owners may also use it for overnight stays during the season. Therefore, you should also carry a DNT key with you during the off-season to access the cabins and restrooms.

After descending the ropes through the gorge, there's a steep section with lots of loose rocks. I wouldn't classify this as average, but rather as difficult (and quite dangerous). The rest of the route is very scenic.

Rauhelleren is a beautiful and well-equipped hut on the Hardangervidda plateau. It's within a day's hike of several other huts, making it perfect for a hut-to-hut tour.

At Easter, many people enjoy hiking from hut to hut on the Hardangervidda.

Caution when climbing through Mørgonga, especially with regard to scree. There is an acute danger of rockfall for hikers scrambling over a rock or for oncoming traffic.
