If hiking up from Hjelle, Avdalfossen is the first waterfall you'll come to when exploring beautiful Utladalen. It's not as high as the famous Vettisfossen but it's a magnificent sight nonetheless. The drop is something in the region of 560 feet (170 m).

Beautiful unpaved hiking trail through rough terrain - approach with sturdy shoes and sufficient fitness. The path is steep in places through a very beautiful landscape directly along the Presteelva river. In some places you can walk to the river or cross it. Great view of several waterfalls. Not recommended after or during rain as the ground is very slippery and muddy and there is a lot of rubble lying around. But the effort is worth it - the reward is great views of nature.

This is just one of the many waterfalls of the small stream that comes from the northern mountain slopes and is fed by the lake "Fossevatnet". A very beautiful hiking trail (only with sturdy shoes) leads along the Presteelva up to the lake.

Beautiful houses, definitely go along the stream on the way there and don't take the wide forest path. It's better to take that on the way back.

In addition to the beautiful view of the beautiful Brekkevossen waterfall, you also have a beautiful view of the fjords (it is a tough climb but definitely worth it). If you have arrived in Flåm with a cruise ship, you can see it in the distance.
