Frank's Bridge at Kirkby Stephen along the Coast To Coast route.

If you look at it from the correct angle, this large stone in the wall resembles a happy dog, complete with eyes, nose and smiling mouth!

Found this place today (April 2025) but only 2 buses that could be hired for weddings were able to be seen. I wouldn’t recommend taking the detour for this.

The former Stainmore Railway, now a surfaced multi-user path, has some lovely walking along its length. The Northern Viaducts Round follows just over a mile of the former Stainmore Railway, which once linked the coalfields of South Durham with the iron and steel industries of the Furness district of Lancashire and West Cumberland.

The Millennium Bridge was completed in 2002. It is 65 feet long and 42 feet above the raging River Eden below. It's a spectacular spot.

If you want to look at old vintage buses (who doesn't?), Cumbria Classic Coaches operates from here and their depot is here. These buses operate in the local area, generally within a 50-mile radius. There are heritage routes, and the buses can also be hired for weddings, birthdays and other such purposes. It's a pleasure to look at these!

This is a terrific inn to stop at and have a meal at in the middle of your walk. The inn offers accommodation, too, if you ever wanted to stay here, although, of course, this will cost you more. There are lovely views from the inn; to the north-east, there can be a lovely display of buttercups in the meadow.

On OS Maps, this tarn is actually unnamed but a place next to it is called Paradise, hence the name "Paradise tarn". It's a lovely little tarn, with an island of sorts in the middle; quite picturesque, and the paths go very usefully around it, so you will be able to appreciate it from different angles.
