The summit ridge has lots of exposed stone that lends itself to fun, quintessential New England hiking. The trail takes you to High Ledge and you get views stretching out in multiple directions as you peek out of the trees.

From this spot on Williamsburg Road, you can see Chapel Ledge and Chapel Falls. Chapel Ledge is a little harder to see because it's a fairly tall, peak almost directly above you in the trees. You can see, however, the trailhead for a hiking trail to the top of it here. Chapel Falls is a small, but pretty waterfall below you in Chapel Brook. This is a nice spot to pause and snap a few photos but be aware of cars coming and going from the trailhead.

At 791 feet, North Sugarloaf Mountain is the higher of the two summits (South Sugarloaf sits at 652 feet), but it is the less popular of the two peaks. You still get great views of the river valley from the top and can see over to the other summit.

Mount Toby is surrounded by an extensive trail system for hikers. Once you reach the summit at 1,269 feet, you can go even higher and climb the fire tower for a fascinating overview of the Connecticut River.

With its wild nature, the approximately 122-kilometer-long Deerfield River is not only a beautiful sight, but also popular with water sports enthusiasts such as whitewater canoeists and rafting guides.
