The Jonesville Greenway offers a serene escape along the banks of the Yadkin River. This two-mile multi-use trail is perfect for walking, running, or biking. As you explore, you'll be treated to picturesque views of the river and surrounding countryside.

The river, a significant waterway in the state, flows through the town, providing opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Elkin has thoughtfully developed its riverfront area, creating access points and amenities for visitors. The Yadkin River Blue Water Trail, a designated paddling route, passes through Elkin, making it a popular destination for water-based recreation.

Situated conveniently close to downtown Elkin and boasts a beautiful location adjacent to the Yadkin River. The park offers a variety of amenities including pickleball courts, a playground, a softball field, open green spaces, restrooms, and a river access ramp. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Crater Park is connected to a walking trail, bike lane, and sidewalk that leads directly to Elkin Municipal Park.

As a designated NC Main Street Accredited Community, it boasts well-preserved historic buildings that house unique shops and restaurants. Visitors can explore the town's rich history through murals and local attractions.

As part of the larger Horne Creek Living Historical Farm, the trail winds through a landscape that echoes the region's rural past. The trail is a perfect complement to exploring the historic farm structures and participating in the living history demonstrations that Horne Creek Farm is renowned for.

Originally built around 1880, it offers a glimpse into the lives of a typical North Carolina farm family in the early 1900s. Meticulously restored and furnished, the farmhouse showcases the traditional lifestyle and challenges faced by rural residents during that era.

Of the two trails leaving from the Cumberland Knob Picnic Area, the Gully Creek Trail is definitely the more demanding trail. It follows along Gully Creek for half the trail and has many bridges and water crossings. This is an especially beautiful trail during the warmer months when the water is flowing to the fullest.
