This trailhead is an entry point to Buckskin Gulch and the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. It has direct access to the Wire Pass Trail through Coyote Gulch and also connects to Coyote Buttes North. It requires a $6 day-use permit and a special lottery permit to enter Coyote Buttes North.

From this parking lot, the out-and-back distance for the Peek-a-boo Slot Canyon hike is significantly shorter and departing from this parking lot saves hikers a lot of walking in sand. However, this parking lot can be hard to reach without a 4-wheel drive vehicle, especially after heavy rains.

Small part to climb, but easy and worth it!
