The Sandstone Bluffs Trail in Interstate State Park, Minnesota, is a scenic and challenging one-mile loop well-suited for intermediate and advanced hikers. The ideal starting point is the campground entrance, which tends to be less crowded, and reaching the trailhead involves a short walk past the ranger station and through a tunnel beneath Highway 8. For those seeking a longer adventure, the Sandstone Bluffs Trail can be combined with nearby Railroad and Walter F. Mondale River Trails. It’s essential to wear sturdy footwear and stay alert near cliffs and drop-offs; the trail is not maintained in winter and can be hazardous when icy. A Minnesota State Park Vehicle Permit is required, and pets are welcome on a leash. Expect rewarding elevation changes and stunning vistas throughout the hike.

I have not been in this building, but it's a neat building for sure.

Probably one of the most highly trafficked of the Minnesota's State Parks. Worth at least the short walk around the potholes, and check out more of the park or the Wisconsin side which is much bigger.

This section of the Walter Mondale Trail is fairly easy. If you continue downstream, you will reach a trail that heads inland and hugs, then ascends, a sandstone bluff that is significantly more challenging.

This building is Minnesota's oldest, existing public school house, built in 1852.
