The Anne Kolb Nature Center is the perfect place to come if you are looking for a short walk and lots of nature. The mangrove wetlands cover 20 acres and are rich in wildlife. There is an accessible tower you can scale to get a bird's eye view or take the paths out into the nature preserve.

Known as Fort Lauderdale's Central Park, Hugh Taylor Birch Park offers a stunning slice of nature in the middle of this busy, urban area. There is a 1.9 mile trail around the edge of the park which is perfect for children. It is anti-clockwise only, so make sure you head in the correct direction on entering the park and enjoy.

Tree Tops Park is an oasis in the city. There are abundant live oak trees, wetlands with turtles, boardwalks, restrooms, and equestrian trails. This lollypop road is a great place to regroup on a ride, you could do a few laps along the shaded roads to avoid traffic, and there is a drinking fountain inside the majority of the buildings so you can top off bottles on a hot day.
