The Cerro del Palo Viewpoint is located in the northeast of the Fuente de Piedra Lagoon, one of the largest saline-lagoon complexes on the Iberian Peninsula. This lagoon, with 1,365 hectares, constitutes the base level and natural drainage of an endorheic basin (closed depression) of 153 km².
