Very nice view of the waterfall

Catawba Falls is a series of waterfalls along the headwaters of the Catawba River. The river flows over two major drops: Upper Catawba Falls, a free-fall drop, and the larger Catawba Falls cascading downstream. Though part of Pisgah National Forest, public access to the falls was restricted for years until the Foothills Conservancy purchased land in 2005 and 2007, with the creation of a trailhead. In 2010, the land was transferred to the U.S. Forest Service, officially opening the falls to visitors.

From this spot on a wooden viewing platform you get great views over Triple Falls. The nearby Triple Falls shelter is a great spot for a picnic with a view of the waterfall, but be sure to pack out all your trash as there are no trash cans. Dogs are welcome here, but must be kept on a leash. Just a bit past the shelter is a long staircase that you can take down to the river.

Arriving at the base of the falls may convince many that these are the 'Bridal Veil' but they are further up the rocks! Be very careful as the rocks get very slick and I have ended up on my butt more than once - even with walking poles. Be warned. However, the view at the top of the real falls is well worthwhile.

Linville Falls is the combination of 3 cascades, which help create one of the most visited spectacles in the entirety of Pisgah National Forest. There are a bunch of different areas where you can view the falls, but this is the most popular overlook on this side of the river.

Hooker Falls is a 12-foot tall waterfall in DuPont Forest. The main trail approaching the falls is pretty short and one that almost anyone in the family can complete. There are changing stations and restrooms at the closest parking lot in case you decide to get in the large pool of water at the base of the falls.

There are a few different spots from which you can view Triple Falls: the shelter, overlook area, and down the stairs at the base of the actual falls. There are some barriers keeping people from getting too close to the falls, so make sure not to cross over these if you come down to the water's edge. This is a really cool stair-step cascade that is one of the more popular vistas in the park.
