The northeasternmost peak in the Alps, reaching over 1,000 meters. Here, the foresters leave nothing standing! Decades ago, the forest floor was still full of snowdrops, which fell victim to the harvester. Only on the Kienberg can one still find an exceptionally dense density of snowdrops. The Altenmarkt side is largely beech forest. On the far side, there is more pine forest with heather and serviceberry as undergrowth. Small purple gentians can be found on the summit meadow.

This is the summit of the Gföhlberg.

The refuge is located on the municipal border between Furth and Altenmarkt an der Triesting at an elevation of 1,037 meters. The refuge has been closed since 2022 due to a legal dispute (between the tenant and the Austrian Tourist Board).

The Araburg is impressively situated on the mountain as you climb up from Kaumberg. The castle is worth a visit; the inner courtyard is very inviting.

The Mauer Pilgrims' Association has erected an impressive shrine on the ascent to the Araburg.

The small Hubertus Chapel above the Kaumberg cemetery is currently being freshly painted.

The parish church of St. Michael in Kaumberg is a beautiful Gothic building located high above the market town. Its interior is in good condition. Its history dates back to 1256.
