It is the so-called Harreshäuser Allee, a four-line avenue of trees between Babenhausen and Harreshausen.

The tower was planned in 1891 by a Frankfurt engineering office and built by master carpenter Keil from Niederkainsbach with a height of 12 m. The tower is named after the former mayor of Darmstadt, Christian Karl Albrecht Ohly. The tower was built in 1891 by the Darmstadt section of the Odenwald Club.
