Pico de Placias is another impressive place for hiking and nature lovers. A popular route starts from the parking lot next to the archaeological classroom. The route is circular, following the perimeter path to the Orellán viewpoint and then linking with the Valiñas path in the direction of La Cuevona and La Encantada. The joyful view of the ruins of the Virgin of La Guayana Hermitage delights you when you reach the Aquiana peak at 1846 meters above sea level. This hike can be difficult in winter and rainy season, as snow covers most of the trail. Be sure to check the conditions before you leave.

View of the jagged edge of the mountain called 'the twelve apostles' in this magical place in the heart of the El Valle del Silencio nature reserve. The walk continues towards the top of Aquina or Guayana at 1846 meters of altitude. Make sure you have a warm set of clothes as the weather can change in seconds.

The top of the El Pajariel climb is marked by a geodesic. Surrounded by pine and oak trees, this natural walk is used by many active Ponferrada adventurers.

Located at 1,022 meters above sea level, from Pico de Placias, we have another point of view of the landscape monument of Las Médulas. A great section to run.

Plaining through El Collado at 1353 meters above sea level and under the watchful eye of The Twelve Apostles, some curious rocky outcrops that are worth stopping to observe. If we go to the Montes de Valdueza, a good descent awaits us. Avoid the route in winter months or in heavy rain as it can be dangerous.
