If you go through Paradise, you go up and down, at least four times, just on an old Rollercoaster 🎢

A truly amazing canyon, easily accessible from Chico. In spring, it's a wildflower explosion. There are several trails. Long pants are a plus, as there are rattlesnakes. It's still worth it!! The basalt rock through which the river flows has a special name: Lovejoy Basalt. It looks a bit like Krog from the Marvel Comics.

Every year at the last weekend in April, lot's of different tours with lot's of different people. 💓

Lonely road up to Paradise

Lake Helen is a glacial tarn situated at approximately 8,200 feet in Lassen Volcanic National Park, in Northern California. Located south of Lassen Peak and west of Bumpass Mountain, the lake lies along Highway 89 and is visible from the road. Named after Helen Tanner Brodt, the first white woman to summit Lassen Peak in 1864, it remains frozen and snow-covered for most of the year due to its high elevation.

Ample parking is available at the trailhead.
