In May 2025, the four sculptures by wood artist Anna Mrzyglod on the east bank near the panoramic staircase will be complete. A frog, a heron, a beaver, and fish.

Since May 2025, this extraordinary piece of wood sawing has been located at the renaturalized rest area! It's truly a gigantic piece of woodwork, blending seamlessly into nature—first the cormorant 🦅, then the frog 🐸, and then the funny beaver 🦫 and the cute 🐟 fish. We'll be stopping here more often for a rest or picnic. So beautiful—you can see all the way to Düsseldorf's TV tower.

There are always new characters 😍

The first wood carvings were discovered in May 2025. Now, new animal figures are constantly being created, blending beautifully into the renaturalized rest area! A cormorant was the first, followed by a frog, a fish, a beaver… could these works also be by the Erzgebirge wood sculptor Jörg Bäßler? The artist has created some very beautiful pieces for the forest classroom at Unterbacher See.
