The title of this highlight is incorrect! The Hönne River flows through Menden (Sauerland) and not through Fröndenberg/Ruhr. The described section of the route is part of the Hönne Cycle Path through the Hönne Valley from Neuenrade to Menden.

One of the city of Menden's former defense towers is the Poenuge Tower, built in the mid-14th century. Since 2011, the tower's interior has been restored and accessible thanks to the installation of a staircase and platforms. Since 2015, the tower has housed a permanent exhibition commemorating the victims of the witch hunt.
