This area is named after the nearby island formed by the Withlacoochee River. It features a large campground where you can camp or bring an RV for the night. From here, you can access the river for kayaking and other water activities.

The Van Fleet State Trail is a beautiful, remote 29.2 mile rail trail. It passes through a variety of landscapes, including swampland, forest and cattle ranches. The path is incredibly straight, with only 1 curve in the path's almost 30 miles.

At over 150,000 acres the Withlacoochee State Forest covers a vast array of terrain. There are miles and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You'll find numerous ghost towns and historic sites. There are a number of campgrounds and picnic areas as well. In fact, there is so much to see and do that the World Wildlife Fund named it one of the "10 Coolest Places You've Never Been in North America".

If you want to get around The Villages then taking to the golf cart paths is the way to go! Miles and miles of paved paths crisscross the developments and you can ride to lakes, parks, stores and restaurants without the need to road share with cars.

This area once had 15 fishing camps and was a prime fishing spot. However, lower water levels have impacted the fishing quality. There are also miles of trails through a forested area, perfect for a relaxing ride.

The Villages area large planned community within Sumter and Marion counties in central Florida. Much of the traffic in the area is made up of golf carts, and there are miles and miles of tracks set up for the slow moving vehicles.

Dade Battlefield Historic State Park is located at the site of the battle that started The Second Seminole War. Nearly a decade after the Treaty of Moultrie Creek (1824), the U.S. Army was attempting to forcibly remove the Seminoles from their homeland to "Indian Territory", which would later become Oklahoma. Of course tensions would flare and war broke out, and this was the site of the first battle. A reenactment of the battle is held at the park each year on the first weekend after Christmas, as that is generally the closest date to the anniversary.

Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve covers over 110,000 acres across four counties. It also borders the Withlacoochee State Forest and Colt Creek State Park, to make a very large continuous protected area. Within this massive protected area you'll find miles of trails and back roads to explore. There are multiple campgrounds, rivers, and lakes to explore. In short it's an outdoorsperson's dream.
