The Hope Furnace, a historic blast furnace in southeastern Ohio, stands as a testament to the region's iron-smelting past. Operating between 1854 and 1874, this rectangular sandstone structure was the heart of a bustling community, now commemorated in Lake Hope State Park, preserving the remnants of a bygone era.

Lake Hope, nestled in Lake Hope State Park, is a captivating man-made lake spanning 120 acres. This scenic destination offers ample opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming, providing a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts.

Lake Hope State Park's main feature is certainly the 120-acre Lake Hope, that is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills. Besides hiking the various trails in the area, it is a popular location for camping, fishing, and watching wildlife (especially birds).

Cemetery Ridge Barn, also known as the Williams Family Barn, is the remainder of the 240-acre Williams Family farm that existed here in the 1800s.

Great spot to take a look at the Lower Falls from above. If you want to actually enter the Lower Falls, you need to head to Buckeye Trail that leads along the falls.

Old Man's Cave is the namesake for the whole area. At this location, the actual recess cave is situated and Hermit Richard Rowe is supposed to have lived here in the late 1700's. To go down into the gorge, you need to walk a lot of steps, but once you reach the gorge, you will find yourself in one of the most famous places of the area.

Rose Lake Dam marks approximately the mid-point between Cedar Falls and Old Man's Cave and is the perfect spot to take a little rest and enjoy the view over the reservoir.
