Aups is a truly beautiful place with many small streets and beautiful houses. The market, which takes place there regularly, is well worth a visit. Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit, delicious cheese, and other good things from Provence. The most beautiful bike ride from there leads to Tourtour – a wonderful little town with good restaurants!

The old watchtower and parts of the city wall are best explored here. Unfortunately, they are no longer so well maintained.

What is notable about this balcony is the inscription “Ad caelum aspirare” (I aspire to heaven!) on the lintel and the tuff, which gives it an ever-changing appearance under erosion from the repeated attacks of the Mistral gives the work of the stone concrete workers from the period between 1860 and 1914. An embrasure is visible under the balcony. It was part of a defensive structure of the castle and was older than the Renaissance buildings, around the 15th century.

The Gothic church building was built between 1489 and 1503. Since 1905 (and the law for the separation of church and state) the church portal in the tympanum has the inscription "République Française. Liberté Égalité Fraternité", which is unique in France.
