This cycle route was built on the old railway line of the Dieppe-Paris line, the Avenue Verte London-Paris has kept the memory of the trains that pass: stations, barriers, signals and even rails punctuate the passage. 130 million years ago, sand and iron from the dismantling of continental granite massifs were deposited in a shallow sea. These formations, revealed today by erosion, are crossed by rainwater and underground flows. At the bottom of the Brayonne buttonhole, lined with impermeable clay, water infiltrates into the sandy layers which cover them and soon reappears in multiple sources and small streams. During its journey, this water dissolves and carries away the ferric oxides contained in the sands. So on the surface, these waters are slightly acidic and the iron remains in suspension giving this curious rusty color. In the town of Forges-des-Eaux you can take a nice walk through the forest and past two lakes.

This red phone booth is a unique and charming place to visit. It is located near the town hall and has been transformed into a book exchange by a group of young volunteers. You can flip through the books, pick up the one you're interested in and leave the one you've finished reading. It's a good way to share your passion for literature with other hikers and locals. You can also enjoy the view of the Château d'Arques-la-Bataille, a medieval fortress which dominates the town and the Arques valley. The castle was the scene of several historic battles, including the famous Battle of Arques in 1589, in which Henry IV defeated the Catholic League.

Magnificent castle dating from the Renaissance whose plans were inspired by the castle of Chaumont s/Loire. Sequestered during the Revolution, the estate was transformed into a prison during the time of the Terror and housed up to 150 prisoners. It was returned to its owner in 1799. The site is now owned by the St Joseph Institute and the outbuildings house a private establishment for general and technical education, with in particular courses dedicated to horticulture and the hotel and catering industry. The castle offers accommodation services and room rentals for events. It is open to individual visits during the July-August period from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., except on reception days for weddings or other events. The gardens surrounding the castle were designed by Le Nôtre. A sign on the Avenue Verte also specifies that the village of Mesnières, entirely organized around the castle, deserves a little detour.
