Dominating Cap Corse, Monte Stello is the second highest peak in the Cap, at 1,306 meters. Apart from its neighbour, the Cima di e Follicie (1,324m), you won't find a better vantage point to enjoy the view of Cap Corse and the Mediterranean Sea.

The inconspicuous rocks provided us with a shady place to rest and cool off with crystal clear water during the hike from Saint Florent to Plage du Loto. With a little climbing action you reach a hollowed out rock at the bottom where you can chill out in peace, undetected by other hikers 👍💯

A pretty bathing bay where you can swim quietly and rest from the coastal hike. The sand in the water is a little bit coarser here.

Very nice beach with a lagoon. If you want to continue to Punta Mortella you have to cross a knee-deep pril.

Cape with an old, relatively dilapidated and a new lighthouse. Nice view of Saint Florent and the Cap Corse. The remains of an old Genoese tower still stand on the rocky shore. The cap can be reached on foot in about 3 hours from Saint Florent on a beautiful coastal path with numerous small beaches. The path continues to the somewhat larger Lodu beach.

One of the many round pleasure towers in Corsica. This looks very worn out due to the proximity to the sea. Some storms have done a great job.

Unfortunately only half of the old tower is still standing, it is still very nice to look at. The tower was built to defend the coast of the Republic of Genoa in the years 1563/64. In 1794 two British warships unsuccessfully attacked the tower of Mortella, but was eventually taken over by British land forces from inland. The British were so impressed by the effectiveness of the tower that they copied its construction several times and wrongly called the construction "Martello", not "Mortella". When the British withdrew from Corsica in 1796, they blew up the tower.

About 1.5 hours away from St. Florent is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, the Arinella de Fiume Santu. On the way to Mortella Tower, you cross this beach and at the end you have to wade a few meters through the water to continue the tour.

Tour Mortella. You should bring enough drink with you on this tour. I can only recommend bathing shoes, as you have to wade through the sea at one point or another. You should also take the lighthouse behind the Genoese tower with you. Very nice tour.
