7월 25, 2025, Bwlch Glas Pass
Beautiful hike, too bad it was cloudy at the top. 12.3 km isn't the actual distance you'll be hiking: it's definitely 10 km more because you can't walk a straight line on this path. It's very busy on this trail; there's a queue to reach the top.

If you want to park here, you have to reserve a parking space in advance for 20 GBP. We didn't manage to do it, as everything was fully booked. You can then park in Llanberies and take the Sherpa Bus S1 or S2 to Pen y Pass. The bus runs every half hour. From Pen y Pass, you can then choose the Miner's Track or Pyg Track. Have fun!

Currently parking is pre-booking only! All others are directed to the P+R in the village and need to get up by bus or walk.

6월 23, 2025, Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa)
What a mess at the top, a long line waitng on the stairs for the top even on weekdays (some struggling to climb the stairs in wind), a totally overcrowded cafe and more slippers than in most shoe shops. The easy ascent by railway probably contributes to this, but even without the chain of hikers working up the easier approaches is impressive.

6월 12, 2024, Watkin Pools and Waterfalls
Anyone who dares to brave the (very) cold water on a sunny day can have some water fun here. There are many hikers who only use the first part of the Watkin trail to walk to these waterfalls and pools and then return.

The ruins are remains of industrial activities such as copper mines and slate quarries. The waterfalls and rapids themselves are beautiful to see. This is an ideal location to take a break, possibly have a picnic along the water. Those who dare to brave the (very) cold water on a sunny day can also have some water fun here.

6월 12, 2024, Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa)
The name "Snowdon" is first recorded in 1095 as Snawdune, and is derived from the Old English elements snaw and dun, meaning "hill of snow". The Welsh name for the mountain, Yr Wyddfa, is first recorded in Latin as Weddua vaur in 1284. This is probably an approximation of Pen y Wyddfa Fawr. The element gwyddfa in this context means "height, promontory", and also occurs in the Welsh name for the town of Mold, Yr Wyddgrug. Gwyddfa later developed the meaning "gravestone heap", and there is a legend that the giant Rhita is buried beneath the cairn on the summit of the mountain. According to one legend, the giant Rhita was slain and buried on the mountain by King Arthur, while another legend suggests that Rhita was killed by the giant Idris who lived on the mountain Cadair Idris. The mountain is also associated with other figures from Arthurian legend, a legendary Afanc (water monster) and the Tylwyth Teg (fairies). (Wikipedia)
