The Grands Thermes are a reference thermal establishment in Auvergne, located in the city center of La Bourboule. The building, whose construction was completed in 1877, is seen as a true jewel of the Belle Époque. Major renovations are planned from 2023, but the center will still be closed. La Tour-d'Auvergne is a very old village which finds its foundations on a basalt peak, the vestige of a volcanic flow from the great volcano that was the Sancy massif. In the town you can admire the basalt columns to the left of the church. These are geological formations that result from the solidification of a basaltic flow shortly after its emission, which attests to the proximity of the volcanic crater.
