The Lizarrieta pass is 411 meters above sea level on the Franco-Spanish border between the villages of Sare and Etxalar. From the village of Sare the climb is about 11 kilometers long for an average of 3.3% with a maximum passage of 6.3%.

Summit at the border with Spain, one can arrive as much by road as by paths. The view is beautiful. A faucet and a small hut for shelter at the top

Very pleasant to drive small Pyrenees pass on a narrow road, nicely shaded through the forest. At the top there is a place to stop for refreshments and a bird watching station where you can document that you have observed an eagle or buzzard. Also to Spain nice descent to Etxalar.

Ridden from Etxalar (Spain). The bulk of the pass is done in the undergrowth but the view at the top is worth the detour. The asphalt is in good condition and the slope not too difficult, I recommend!

Flat fork in the road. Right on the border (with boundary stone). Good bivouac site with a nearby water source. For water source (see photo) just follow the wide forest path to the west or north-west for 100-200m to the first bend. There where the trees are in the picture with the signpost on the right.
