The climb to Van d'en-Haut is quite difficult with about 5 km of climbing after Salvan, although you have to climb up here from the valley beforehand. The average slope of this last section is approximately 9 to 10%. The road is a dead end, so there isn't too much traffic.

The lake is a popular place due to its ease of access and the large number of hiking, running and mountain biking trails that start from this location. The lake is located below the large, rocky and imposing Dents du Midi. It is equipped with a small refreshment bar, offering an opportunity to refuel before or after a long run in these magnificent mountains.

If you want to reach the reservoir you have to climb the steep mountain road up to a 28% gradient, but at the top you will be rewarded with a great panorama.
