The border eagle on the Rennsteig near Oberhof is a prominent boundary stone on the municipal boundary of Oberhof. At the time of its erection, it marked the state border between the Kingdom of Prussia (Steinbach-Hallenberg section) and the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Oberhof section) to the north. We were guests in the Thüringer Hütte am Grenzadler near Oberhof on November 19th, 2022 and were very happy about the good service at reasonable prices, just to feel good. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the door, an ideal starting point for a hike.
