I rode a section of the new cycle path along the Elbe dike towards Arneburg. - a bicycle highway - it doesn't get any better than that. Unfortunately, my short vacation didn't allow for a ride to Arneburg.

And suddenly there's only sky, water, and silence. The Havel River passes beneath you, unperturbed, like a thought that can't be stopped. To the left, the grass near the riverbank, ruffled by the wind; to the right, the riverbank, green and crouching like a self-contained observer. No spectacle, no drama – only the quiet majesty of the expanse that welcomes you like an old acquaintance. A heron flies up, making a slow arc over the river. The light shimmers on the horizon. The fields lie there as if they had just decided to be summer. Cycling here isn't racing against time. It's pedaling into it. Everything slows down. Thoughts find their rhythm. And sometimes you simply stop, lean your bike against a post, sink onto the jetty – and watch. Just watch. And breathe.

Between Rhinow and Strodehne, cycling becomes a time of looking, marveling, and being silent. The path runs as if drawn with a ruler through a landscape that doesn't impose itself, but rather reveals what it has: XXL skies, ditches with cattails, birch trees in the wind, grazing cows – and in between, the silence that roars in your ears like the sea once did. A lone bike at the side of the path, its pannier dangling as if to say: I'm staying here. In front of you: only the horizon. Behind you: nothing urgent. Those who cycle this section should take their time. For the rustling in the reeds. For the glittering surface of the water where ducks migrate. For the wind that tells stories if you let it. And for the realization that there are places where nothing happens – and that's precisely the best part.

Between Garz and Gülpe, the Havel River flattens like a sigh. Wide waterways, wet meadows, sky stretching to the horizon. Here, the land speaks to the wind, and the wind responds with gentle waves. Anyone crossing the bridge by bike should dismount—not out of caution, but out of reverence. This isn't a landscape; it's an atmosphere. And if you're lucky, you might see a sea eagle flying—as large as a promise.

There are paths that lead not only through the countryside, but into the very heart of wonder. Between meadows, water, and expanse, a panorama opens up here that's so tranquil that you almost stop your bike so as not to disturb it. You roll relaxed along the dike, with lush meadows to your left and the sparkling Havel River to your right, winding through its own floodplains as if it had all the time in the world. The air is soft, and the birds have taken over: greylag geese, lapwings, and occasionally even the white stork. And you? You ride. Slowly. Because you want to, not because you have to. This isn't about kilometers, but about moments. And about the one thought that quietly joins in: How good that I'm here.
