A well-constructed cycle path with many views that is easy to ride and offers enough space

This bike path is great to ride

A detour that was worth it. The graduation house in Bad Sooden alone was worth going there. But the lovingly renovated half-timbered houses in Bad Sooden and Allendorf are also well worth seeing.

Great view which is of course even better in winter. When descending on some parts of the route, however, it is very slippery. In the morning everything is frozen rock hard and then the sun shines and it thaws on the surface. Then it's a slide.

This highlight is on the premium hiking trail 16 (P16). From here you have a wonderful view over the forests and mountains. It is certainly most beautiful in spring and summer, when the trees are blooming in beautiful green, as well as in golden autumn with colorful foliage.

The path is partially overgrown. But the goal is worth it. With a bench to sit on, you can really enjoy the view here

The mountain is located in the western part of the Eichsfeld district near the state border with Hesse. Viewed clockwise, it lies between the small towns of Asbach-Sickenberg in the south and south-west, Dietzenrode-Vatterode in the west and north-west, Mackenrode and Henningerode in the north-east. The nearest cities are Bad Sooden-Allendorf (Hessen) (4 kilometers to the south-west) and Heilbad Heiligenstadt (Thuringia) (about 12 km to the north-east). The Wanfried Agreement in 1945 led to a shift in the American-Soviet zone border and with it the later Thuringian-Hessian state border. This is how the towns of Asbach-Sickenberg, Vatterode, Weidenbach and the associated mountain came to Thuringia. The mountain is therefore not part of the historic Eichsfeld. The inner-German border ran south of the mountain and can still be seen at the Schifflersgrund border museum near Asbach-Sickenberg.
