The Hatzenturm

The parish church of St. Catherine, also known as the castle church, which stands in front of Wolfegg Castle, is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent baroque churches in Upper Swabia. The former collegiate church was built between 1733 and 1742 by Johann Georg Fischer, and the neo-baroque bell tower, designed by the Stuttgart architect Joseph Cades, was added in 1906. Apparently you can also get married in the castle, or at least have a party. One Saturday, a wedding party was there.

The main building of the castle consists of four wings, which are arranged in the shape of a rectangle together with four corner towers. The castle is not normally open to the public, but guided tours are offered as part of the annual concerts held in the castle. The baroque-style knights' hall, which is decorated with 24 wooden sculptures and a large ceiling mirror, is particularly worth seeing and is used annually by the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, among others.
