The old train station was built in the late 1800s for the Central Railroad of New Jersey. Today, it serves as a hub for the Califon Historical Society and access point for the Columbia Rail Trail. Supposedly, the name Califon comes from a shortening of "California", since the painter creating the station map didn't leave enough room for the original title.

The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a protected nature reserve that borders the Delaware River. It is a popular spot for hikers and cyclists, and has several long distance trails that cut through it.

The McDade Recreational Trail is an almost 30-mile long trail that runs from Hialeah Recreation Area to Milford Beach. The trail is mostly flat and follows the Delaware River for most of its trajectory.

From this spot on the Delaware and Raritan Canal Townpath near Frenchtown, where you get fantastic views of the Deleware River close to town. The Deleware River is the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi River in the United States. The Townpath runs for nearly 70 miles along the river, offering a fantastic, car-free way to enjoy the scenery.

Nice view of the Delaware River from the McDade Recreational Trail. This section of the trail mostly follows the river, so there are some other breaks in the trees where you will also get views of the water.

This is all that's left of the stonework building that was once the pottery for Moravian settlers. The building later served as a cloth-making and weaving workshop, and as housing too.

A tranquil escape for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts exploring the scenic Sussex Branch Trail. It's wildly popular for wildlife viewing and birding.

There are abandoned railroad ruins along the sides of the road. There are even still rails on the ground in spots overgrown with grasses and weeds.
