On the Noorderheide heathland near Vierhouten, three landmarks made of boulders can be found: the Daniel George Pyramid (D.G. Pyramid), the Miesje Pyramid, and the Peter Paul Pyramid (P.P. Pyramid). Along with the now-lost Victoria Pyramid, they were part of the estate of Daniel George van Beuningen (owned by the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum). In 1935, he constructed ingenious waterworks here, consisting of brick gutters, ponds, and a pumping station to pump water and supply the streams. The three remaining pyramids have been restored by volunteers.

The Grevelweg near Elspeet is almost impossible to navigate with a regular bike. There are many holes and deep grooves in the unpaved path. Unfortunately, I fell off my bike. Be careful!

Landgoed Den Alerdinck is a historic country house in the green heart of Salland, just outside Heino. The estate dates back to the 17th century but has been beautifully restored. Nowadays, the estate is mainly used for various events.

It is always fantastic to cycle through the heathlands of the Veluwe. Definitely recommended at the end of August, when the heather is in purple bloom.

I think this is one of the most beautiful gravel roads in the area. It really reminds me of the Italian Strade Bianche, this road is so white.

This highlight takes you over the Elspeterbosweg, a good asphalt road for (racing) bikes from Elspeet to Vierhouten between the Elspeetsche heide (left) and Noorderheide (right). If you want to go over Noorderheide outside Vierhouten with an MTB or gravel bike, you can follow the following unpaved route (with a beautiful part through the beech strips of the Vierhouterbos): https://www.komoot.com/nl-nl/tour/1672570989 Be friendly to the hikers!

Lookout tower on top of the hill near the Ossenberg. Beautiful views over the nearby heath. To look here you cycle on a hard gravel path that is also popular with walkers, so adjust your speed carefully especially downwards.

One of the few parts of the MTB route Heerde that you could describe as technical. The climb from the cycle path is short but steep. This is followed by a number of winding bends. Nevertheless, nothing too crazy for a gravel bike, so you could say that the MTB route Heerde is more of a gravel route than an MTB route ;-)
