9월 7, 2025, Le bac de Jumièges
The 3 bridges between Le Havre and Rouen (Normandy, Tancarville and Brotonne (the latter quite dangerous for bicycles) are very high because they have to allow passage of large tonnage boats intended to supply Paris, the Seine being an important component. These boats are then unloaded in Rouen onto smaller tonnage boats which go to Paris. This system of ferries, surprisingly free, is therefore there to compensate for this lack of possible crossings. Do not hesitate to use them, it is really a very nice plus.

To avoid the extremely high bridges over the Seine, we chose the ferry. We enjoyed the crossing – completely uncomplicated and pleasant. I took photos of the departure times.

The bridge itself is magnificent and it is also the only one in the region with a large cycle path and light traffic.

I've safely crossed the bike-tractor lane in the center of the road several times in both directions. I'm prone to vertigo, however, so I don't hesitate to cross it. (5 minutes for 2 km) However, in even moderately windy weather, I absolutely avoid it. The view is magnificent from every angle, both from the top and the side. On the other hand, my wife crosses it without any problem and appreciates the width of the very wide bike path (2.50 m), which is much safer than the Tancarville Bridge or the Normandy Bridge. (The path is almost nonexistent and strongly discouraged on this bridge: take the bus to cross it!)

The banks of the Seines are exceptional and do not present any particular difficulties.

9월 20, 2024, View of a Meander of the Seine
Between Rouen and Le Havre, the Seine forms increasingly pronounced loops before flowing into the English Channel. It is this environment that gave rise to the Boucles de la Seine Normande nature park. From this high vantage point, you can admire the landscapes.

The bridge overlooking the river is impressive in its dimensions. Please note that it is still difficult to feel safe there given the speed of the vehicles and the height. It is possible to ride in the right lane reserved (in theory only...) for bicycles and agricultural vehicles. A narrow "sidewalk" allows you to drive off the road, but you shouldn't get too dizzy.

The Heurteauville-Jumièges ferry links the villages of Heurteauville and Jumièges, and accommodates cars, bicycles and pedestrians. You can enjoy views of the river and surrounding countryside, as well as the impressive Jumièges Abbey, one of the oldest and most beautiful monasteries in Normandy. The ferry operates every day except Sundays and public holidays, and its schedules vary depending on the season. The crossing is free and takes around 10 minutes.

11월 21, 2023, Château de Robert-le-Diable
Robert the Devil's Castle is a medieval fortress dating from the time of the Dukes of Normandy. The castle is named after Robert the Devil, a legendary figure who was either Robert II of Bellême or Robert the Magnificent, the father of William the Conqueror. The castle is located on a cliff which overlooks the Seine valley and offers panoramic views of the region. You can explore the ruins of the castle, partly rebuilt in the 20th century, and discover its history and legend through guided tours or interactive games. The castle is surrounded by a three-hectare wooded park, where you can take a peaceful walk or have a picnic. The castle is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the entrance fee is 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for children.

If you are looking for a historic and scenic run, you can visit the Chateau de Robert-le-Diable, a medieval castle dating back to the time of the Dukes of Normandy. The castle is located on a cliff overlooking the Seine and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. You can explore the castle ruins, said to be haunted by the ghost of Robert le Diable, a legendary figure who was either Duke of Normandy or Count of Moulineaux. The history and legend of the castle can be further explored at the nearby museum, which features reconstructions of scenes from the Middle Ages.
