The old port of Auray is well worth stopping at for some food, drink and/or ice cream. It has lots of lovely old Breton buildings and has a distinct medieval vibe.

Georges Cadoudal is an emblematic figure of the Breton chouannerie, a civil war which opposed Republicans and Royalists during the French Revolution. After an attempted plot against Napoleon, he was arrested and guillotined in Paris in 1804. His body rests in this mausoleum which bears his name.
