In 1997, the cantonal government decided to undertake the necessary restoration and preservation measures at the castle complex to preserve its historic features. After two years of renovation work, the Dorneck ruins are once again open to visitors. The view from the tower over Basel and Dornach is breathtaking.

Both towers of the upper castle can be climbed. There is a great view towards Lake Constance (to the Säntis) or towards Basel (Swiss Jura). Current admission (July 2024): adults €3.50, children and other groups of people different.

For me the castle is somehow something very special about Lörrach and I really enjoy being there. I don't really know why that is the case. Somehow it has a very special flair and I really like it😍.

There is a metal stamp under the portal. It is one of the so-called connoisseur trails in the Black Forest. If you collect three stamps you will receive a small reward at the tourist information office. In other ways, the stamps are often hidden in small Black Forest clocks.
