1월 18, 2026, Village Ostréicole du Grau de Leucate
Anyone familiar with oysters knows that they can have very different flavors, depending not only on the subspecies but also on their origin. The Pacific rock oyster, which is the most common in Europe after the European oyster largely became extinct, tastes different on the French Atlantic coast, for example, than in Ireland or Scotland. Oysters from the European Atlantic share a relatively high salt and mineral content. Oysters from the Mediterranean, on the other hand, are somewhat milder and have a spicy aftertaste, similar to the "Blue Point" oyster from the US East Coast. The restaurant is irrelevant; it's all about the oyster itself, and of course, the price, which is outrageously high in Germany, for example. Personally, I prefer Breton and Norman oysters because they are distinctive and meaty.

7월 24, 2025, Château de Corbère
This castle likely dates back to the 12th century. Although medieval in design, it was remodeled in the 13th and then again in the 16th century. Its architecture is inspired by medieval Catalan architecture, and it is likely privately owned.

7월 16, 2025, Lac de Villeneuve-de-la-Raho
The lake lies in a deflation pan. This is a natural, circular, shallow depression caused by the removal of relatively loose, primarily Pliocene, sediment by wind erosion during very cold, windy phases of the Quaternary.

Sainte-Colombe-de-la-Commanderie owes its name to the historical presence of a Templar commandery, which operated in the village in medieval times. During the 12th and 13th centuries, the Knights Templar settled in the region, where they managed agricultural land and protected pilgrims. Although much of the original architecture has disappeared or been modified, the Templar legacy remains palpable in the identity of the village.

9월 8, 2024, Sant Martí de la Roca
It is a typical example of the Catalan Romanesque style, with its simple but robust stone structure, characterised by a bell tower and a semicircular apse. Although it is small, its construction on top of a rock gives it a special character. Inside, although austere, the calm and spiritual atmosphere typical of Romanesque churches stands out.

It is a charming Romanesque hermitage situated in the hills above the village of Camélas in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Built in the 11th century, this church is nestled in a rocky outcrop, hence its name "de la Roca", giving it a picturesque and unique appearance in the region. It is a popular destination for hikers and history lovers due to its natural surroundings and its historical and architectural value.

9월 4, 2024, Chapelle Saint-Amans de la Ribera
Although small and modest, the chapel has a rustic charm with stone walls and a tiled gable roof, common features of medieval buildings in the region. Inside, it surely features simple religious elements, but full of popular devotion. Like many of the chapels in the area, the Chapelle Saint-Amans may have undergone restorations over the centuries to keep it in good condition, as the climatic conditions of the mountains can affect old structures.

Dedication to Saint Amans: The chapel is dedicated to Saint Amans (Saint Amantius), a 5th-century saint who was the first bishop of the town of Rodez in southwestern France. Saint Amantius is venerated as a protector against storms and natural calamities, so his cult was common in several rural regions of southern France.

@Markus. It's very sad that you resort to cropping photographs that weren't taken by you and pretending you were there in order to score points and become the leader of a region (Ceret). That photograph is my property, and you edited and cropped it. Enjoy it, but there's something called copyright...
