A 10th-century fortress that controlled the passes between Montseny and Vallès. It had a main hall, a kitchen, and a cistern because there is no water at the top. Part of the castle was damaged by a medieval landslide, and from then on it functioned more as a lookout point and toll collection point than as a residence. It was also part of the fire and smoke signal network between the valleys. Abandoned since the 15th century, today only walls and sweeping vistas remain, explaining its strategic importance.

The large Cànoves reservoir, built in the 1980s on the former agricultural valley that was submerged. In addition to its function as a water reserve, there is a little-discussed detail: under its waters still lie the remains of terraces, old paths and some dry stone walls that can only be glimpsed in periods of extreme drought. During construction, springs and water mines were diverted that still drain the area. Access is easy, the perimeter path is gentle and the closed valley creates a characteristic silence that accompanies the entire tour. A perfect point to understand how this corner of Montseny went from an inhabited valley to a peaceful lake.

It is known for its breakfasts and lunches with a wide variety of generous and delicious combination dishes, and for its super large cachopos. It is one of those restaurants that you have to keep in mind if you are in the area. We have tried it and will definitely go back.

Continue over the bridge on Bages Street and Ramon Ciurans Street. Finally. It connects with the river path in Llerona, Rosanes and La Almendra, in a route of 3.9km. This route can be done up to 35km to reach Besós beach in a gradient of just under 100 meters. It descends comfortably parallel to the river, scanning the river, which is on the right, and crop fields on the left. As you go down, you reach a landscape that becomes more urban and industrial. The path has no discontinuity.
