The church was built between 1860 and 1862 to designs of the architect George Edmund Street, funded by Sir Thomas Percival Heywood, 2nd Baronet. At the same time, Street also designed the lychgate, churchyard cross, vicarage and village school.

Quiet little gem of Staffordshire walking Can be ridden on gravel/mtb. It’s an alternative to Couldon canal

The church was founded by Sir Percival Heywood,  who employed George Edward Street to design it.  Street was a great architect associated with the “Gothic revival”,  ranking alongside Pugin and Butterfield.  All Saints was Street’s favourite Church,  and is regarded as one of his finest works.  Its corner stone was laid in 1860 and the church was completed in 1862.
