Part of the Leek Branch of the Caldon Canal the pool allows boats to turn around before the tunnel. The Churnet Way long distance walking trail and NCN 559 follow the canal towpath past the pool.

Well maintained and very smooth path. Must be great to ride in winter

Nice tree-lined trail for MTB and Gravel riding. Can be busy with walkers, runners and dogs so take a bell and use it.

This disused coal mine was once the largest mine working the North Staffordshire coalfield. The Chatterley Whitfield Colliery site is recognised to be the most comprehensive survival of a deep mine site in England, with a range of structures and buildings unequalled in any other former or surviving coalfield site in Britain. It's been designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Quiet little gem of Staffordshire walking Can be ridden on gravel/mtb. It’s an alternative to Couldon canal

Cloudside might sound like a lovely name for a road, but it's a tough little berg from either side! Not the longest or steepest in the area but you'll know about it. Great views and a good surface though.

The whole ride along the lively canal is worth it.
