Fantastic view looking north along this path.

I stopped here for lunch. There’s some seating around a tree. I notices some water taps around the edge of the small woods, looking down at the run way beneath. Please take your rubbish with you.

Really good selection of homemade cakes, and the lunches and breakfasts look good as well. inside and outside seating available

Excellent route virtually all off-road!

Worth spending a few moments here to admire the views

This excellent gravel track winds through the Chilterns, alternating between single and double track. As you traverse farmland and woodland you'll be treated to expansive and far-reaching views.

A nice section of relatively quiet road north of Lilley. It's undulating rather than hilly and very nice to avoid the busy A6 or A505 which I wouldn't recommend.

The staircase includes tyre rails/tracks on the side to aid dragging up & down bikes, which fit my 40 mm gravel tyres and helped with the bikepacking load.

On the climb, make sure to admire the amazing tree canopy as well. :)

Beautiful woodland part of the Icknield Way in this area, with a climb & descent around Telegraph Hill

This is a fun climb that peaks at around 15% toward Telegraph Hill. On a gravel bike, the steepest bits also require navigation over/around tree roots.

Enjoyable off-road climb (northbound) into Ashwell, where the off-road path continues, passing behind houses and allotments

This is a scenic, elevated path with a punchy climb if coming from the west; watch out for the metal rail sticking out of the ground. It does not seem to be the "official" Icknield Way, as the latter concerns a bridleway further south on direct route to Ickleford.
