I stopped a little way down this path, found a great spot to enjoy the views and have a spot of 🥪

Cycled this in dry weather on my gravel bike in summer and really enjoyed every part of it. A little overgrown in a few places. I would imagine in the wet or after heavy rainfall, this to be hard work.

Excellent route virtually all off-road!

This is a pleasant cycleway between Harpenden and Luton with very little traffic during the day. It's got a good surface and nice views, especially during the autumn time with the falling leaves.

Worth spending a few moments here to admire the views

Spacious, calm road. Majority of the car drivers are respectful to cyclists and overtaking cautiously.

Note that the line runs well below street level and thus needs to be accessed by a longer flight of stairs at this entry point. With a bikepacking load, a better alternative seems to be a ramp on Ambrose Lane, which I only discovered in hindsight.

The staircase includes tyre rails/tracks on the side to aid dragging up & down bikes, which fit my 40 mm gravel tyres and helped with the bikepacking load.

If you're climbing up toward Telegraph Hill, definitely stop to admire the arching tree canopy. :)

This is a fun climb that peaks at around 15% toward Telegraph Hill. On a gravel bike, the steepest bits also require navigation over/around tree roots.

This is a scenic, elevated path with a punchy climb if coming from the west; watch out for the metal rail sticking out of the ground. It does not seem to be the "official" Icknield Way, as the latter concerns a bridleway further south on direct route to Ickleford.

Found this a little bit of a challenge with my fully loaded bikepacking bike with plus sized tyres. Good idea having the little track at the side of the steps but I found it a little narrow. Oh yes, the bridge literally reverberates when the trains go underneath.
