Sept '25 finds this bridleway rather horse trodden. A little rough on the rear!

The Bridleway goes direct to it from behind so you don’t have to go on the road at all, just don’t turn into the actual farm, the bridleway is just after, it’s all well signposted

Brilliant cafe!

This is a wonderful, flowy gravel path. As mentioned previously, when going at speed, watch out for those larger ditches (a bit like a pump track).

Enjoyable off-road climb (northbound) into Ashwell, where the off-road path continues, passing behind houses and allotments

A brilliant pub with great food on a really nice off-road route through this areas. Definitely worth the ride and stop to “rehydrate” and refuel. The tables outside are great for stopping, getting off the bike and recapping the ride.

If you're fully committed to sticking to the Icknield Way, prepare for some thick undergrowth in parts and hike-a-bike. The other parts are still worth it.

There's thick undergrowth here in summer, so not quite rideable without causing a mess to the rear mech and cassette. If you don't mind hike-a-bike for several hundred metres, it still links up rideable parts of the Icknield Way.

The path has become overgrown in places but is not impassable if you don't mind a nettle sting or two. Unfortunately the west side does lead you onto the A505 layby with a burger van and an unpleasant kilometre to the edge of Royston.

A lovely Idyllic village green with Picnic benches Ideal for a stop if the weather is good.

*The* way into/out of Buntingford north/south, if you wish to avoid the A10.

Plenty of indoor and outdoor space with a large bike rail for parking. Good ☕️ and also passed the sausage roll test with flying colours.

Great cafe with good coffee, cakes and food. Highly recommended.

Rode from Baldock direction and had a buzzard fly 'down the tunnel' in front of me - awesome sight.
