The path beside the Fossdyke has at one end the Brayford pool in Lincoln with pubs, restaurants and cinema. The route continues past the Pyewipe Inn, Beyond that is Burton Waters with the very popular Woodcocks. Further on is the village of Saxilby with its railway station.

Torksey Lock is a canal lock on the Fossdyke Navigation Canal near Lincoln, England. It's a popular spot for leisure craft, wildlife watching, and walking. The Fossdyke Navigation Canal was originally dug in Roman times but was re-opened during the reign of James I. The lock controls the outfall to the River Trent.

A great place to access this cycle route is the Park & Bike parking in Skellingthorpe.

The cycle track along the A46 is very narrow and can be difficult to manage.

You can ride this section on a road bike (this tour was done on one) however, it isn't smooth and might be a bit muddy after heavy rain.

Bardney lock is located on the River Witham about 11 miles to the East of Lincoln. The River Witham flows through the peaceful Lincolnshire countryside and is has beautiful views with a remote feeling for much of its length. The flat marshy fenlands stretch out on either side of the river allowing spectacular sunsets to be seen.

Five Mile Bridge is a famous local landmark, named because it is 5 miles East of Lincoln. It is the only place where the River Witham can be crossed between Lincoln and Bardney, a distance of 10 miles. A beautiful quiet spot, Lincoln Cathedral is visible on the hill to the West. The low rolling chalk hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds can be seen to the East.

A lovely viewpoint overlooking Thorpe Lake at Whisby Nature Reserve. If you need a breather, there's a bench here to sit on and admire the view while undertaking a quick recovery!
