I revisited this in dry summer, and it was a pleasure to ride. The "mud bath" section seems to have been filled with fresh gravel (see photo), so fingers crossed for the future.

Coming from Strethall, this is a rolling decent toward the motorway bridge on singletrack, diagonally through a field and along hedges.

Keep your head down and your arms and legs covered! The drove road is getting very hard to ride down and even walk down with lots of hanging branches!

Great stretch of single track road well worth a ride and way better than the parallel main road through Littlebury and Greta Chesterford.

While rarely used any more, the original grand entrance gates to Wimpole Hall, Arrington Gates are a testament to the history of Wimpole Estate, including a visit from Queen Victoria in 1848!

A grade II listed building, the Stable Block at Wimpole is a historic gem, showcasing exquisite Georgian architecture. Nestled within the Wimpole Estate, it stands as a testament to the estate's rich history and agricultural heritage. Today, the Stable Block is home to the gift shop at Wimpole, where you can pick up a souvenir from Wimpole.

The parkland at Wimpole Estate is a fantastic, nature-filled area comprising woodlands, farmland with grazing animals, and tranquil lakes.

The splendid Wimpole Hall is a mansion with origins dating back to the 1640s, when it was originally built for Sir Thomas Chicheley. The estate features captivating interiors and includes a working farm.

Entering from the west, this seems like a reasonably well-drained gravel road, generally to be recommended, but the eastern third ended up muddy and rutted. I carried my bike on muddy ground around a larger puddle, with the rest ridden on narrow grassy strip on the road's shoulder.

Scenic yes, but I do not recall any gravel. It did tend to be quite muddy in parts in late-October.
