Can be busy with walkers so be prepared to stop/slow down regularly

Great way to get a tour of Cheshire with a stop at Anderton Boat lift and passing through the beautiful village of Great Budworth.

watch out for dog walkers who don't have their dogs on a lead.

Sankey Valley Park is a public park in Warrington, Cheshire. It occupies part of the Sankey Valley, and the main park itself covers over 1½ miles between Sankey Bridges in the south and Callands in the north. The valley follows the course of Sankey Brook and the now disused Sankey Canal. The park is enjoyed by walkers, cyclists and anglers, and the central section of the park is family orientated with children's play features, a maze and lawn areas. Bewsey Old Hall (and the Maltings Public House) sit on the edge of the central section of the park. The Trans Pennine Trail passes around 500 yards (460 m) from the southern tip of the park. Fantastic coffee and cakes on this floating cafe. A great option for a peaceful mid ride stop - sit on the canal banks and take it all in.

Canal barge cafe with some outdoor benches to take a load off. Well worth a stop on a nice day.

The Bridgewater Way is a scenic path that runs through Worsley in Greater Manchester, following the historic Bridgewater Canal. The path features beautiful views of the canal, surrounding woodlands and gardens.

The Bridgewater Canal connects Runcorn, Manchester and Leigh. It was originally built to transport coal from mines in Worsley to Manchester. Now it is forms part of the 40 mile (64 km) Bridgewater Way, a scheme to redevelop the canal, especially for cyclists.
