One of the many pleasant lane/roads of Rutland.

Probably a part of the Great North Road and now a quiet climb from under the A1 up to a right hand turn towards Pickworth.

On the main road away from the village centre.

Now a NISA but still sells Co-op products.

Now under new ownership but still a great place to stop in a nice location. Outdoor bike parking which can be overseen from the tables inside. Open 9am-3.30pm (3pm Sun, closed Mon).

The tarmac is horrible now and wasn't that quiet, passing cars don't leave much space on a road. In short avoid

This is the same lane featured last week as Mind the Sheep. Same tip applies.

A lovely lane this, heading away from the noise of the A1. To the north of this Pickworth road is Woolfox golf club and the remains of RAF Woolfox airbase. In later WWII this was a significant base for bombers and in the cold-war period was the home to Bloodhound missiles. Older readers will remember seeing these when passing on the A1. All quiet and peaceful now.

Follow the Main Street to the east and there is a quiet back road to Stamford via Casterton, or you can cross under the A1 to reach Pickworth and some pretty lanes with little traffic.

years since I have been here, but from what I remember it was a very nice nice meal.
