Loads of cycle ways and a good alternative to the roads when cycling into Wells-Next-The-Sea.

Great spot for a break

A lovely final streatch across the fields before heading up to Ringstead an the coast at Hunstanton where the Peddars Way concludes in this direction. The surface here is quite badly rutted in some places and will be difficult to navigate unless you have experience, we say motocross bikes using this segment and I would also assume small farm vehicles have used parts of it too, this is has created the deep ruts, I imagine this is very difficult to use in the winter. The final part is downhill so this adds to the complexity of the ride here due to the aforementioned ruts, there is a nice bench near the bottom with a good view.

A nice section of the Peddars Way which has a good surface and is relatively covered from the elements, it's got some nice views and there are bronze age barrows nearby, again gravel, mountain and tour bikes should be fine on this surface.

Beautiful examples of Barrow's that have survived quite well mainly due to how flat the landscape is here. They stand proud of the landscape and are particularaly atmospheric at dusk.

Excellent cafe serving high quality deli food. Courtyard seating as well as tables out front, or indoors if wet. Open 8am-6pm Mon-Sat, 9am-12pm Sun.

Sitting near the route of the old Peddars Way trackway. Amazing to think that these barrows have seen the Romans, Angles, Vikings and Normans all go by, standing inviolable and immutable.

A small and undistinguished muddy puddle.

The scenic birthplace of England's greatest naval hero. The wide green and double street is surrounded by chi-chi shops for the North Norfolk Coast tourist trade. There's a bakery for coffee, savouries and buns, as well as a tea room and cafe if you want to sit in.

Impressive country house set in enormous landscaped grounds, with free through-access for cycles. The cricket pitch on the north lawn by the house and lake must have one of the best settings in the country!

Gate often closed but seems to open when approached from inside estate.

Burnham Market is a quintessential north Norfolk town, with a lovely village square, boutique shops and some great pubs. A fine place to stop for a rest (or a beer) on a Norfolk ride.

It's the only bench I can recall between Castle Acre and the sea, so make good use of it. :)

We entered from the South Gate towards the Obelisk. The main gate was shut and we thought we would have to go around. But the main gain has a pedestrian gate to the side which is unlocked

Enter Holkham Park though the small gate to the left of the main gate.

Opens at 10am. The cafe is a lovely place for a bite to eat indoors or in the courtyard. There are bike racks too.

Known as 'Chelsea-on-Sea', this village if probably the most prestigious in Norfolk (apart from Sandringham). Nice pubs.

Cycle through these gates to ride through the Holkham Park's Avenue (aka National Cycle Network's Route 1)
